Our board-certified and fellowship-trained physicians specialize in general orthopedics; total joint replacement; surgery of the hand, wrist, and elbow; arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder; sports medicine; and fractures.
History of the Practice
Dr. Ty Goletz (Retired) began practice in San Antonio in 1982 when he joined another physician to practice Sports Medicine and Knee Surgery. Dr Goletz was one of the first Orthopedic Surgeons to offer arthroscopic surgery in San Antonio. Within 7 years the group grew to five Orthopedic Surgeons all board certified and specialty trained. In 1990 Dr. Goletz left his original group and started the Center for Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. In 2000 Dr. Pontius, a member of Dr. Goletz’s original group, joined the Center for Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. In 2007 Dr Greg Gordon joined the practice followed in 2010 by Dr. Geoffrey Millican. The group added a hand specialist, Dr. Michael Jones, in 2015 and in the following year, Curtis Vaughn, our PA was added. Dr. Pontius has retired from the practice of Orthopedic Surgery and in August of 2018 we welcomed Dr. Raymond Skunda to our practice.
We have an orthopedic surgical practice with a focus on arthroscopy, total joints, hand surgery, and fracture care. Our providers have been recognized locally by the media and their peers for exceptional care and we look forward to continuing to treat patients in the South Texas community with the same care we would extend to our own families.
If you are in need of an orthopedic surgeon, physical therapy, or merely considering your therapeutic options, our goal is to provide you with as much information as possible in a comfortable, supportive environment.
