Dr. Raymond E. Skunda is the newest member of the team of providers at the Center for Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. After graduating magna cum laude from Trinity University in San Antonio with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, Dr. Skunda received his medical degree with distinction in research from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He then completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine.
Dr. Ray Skunda is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in a wide array of orthopedic conditions including hip, knee, and shoulder disorders. Joint replacement, sports medicine, arthroscopy, and fracture care for patients of all ages are part of the orthopedic services provided by Dr. Skunda.
Dr. Skunda uses Makoplasty for partial knee replacement, total knee replacement, and total hip replacement. Makoplasty is technically both computer-assisted and robotic-arm assisted. Knee and hip replacements are minimally invasive. Dr. Skunda sees patients as young as 5 years of age.
He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and American Medical Association, and he has participated in numerous research projects pertaining to orthopedic surgery and rehabilitation.
Away from the Center, Dr. Skunda enjoys spending time with his family, exercising, lifting weights, golfing, cooking, reading, going to the movies, and a variety of outdoor activities.
